Ingredients:

  • 500 g flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder (about 10 g)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 250 ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 ml cooking cream (sour cream)
  • 200 g sausages (you can use homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano or dried thyme (optional)
  • 1 egg for brushing

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the dough:
  • In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the milk, 2 eggs, cooking cream, butter (or oil), and stir everything together.
  • Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
  • Cover the bowl with the dough and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.

2. Prepare the filling:

  • Cut the sausages into slices or small pieces, according to your preference.
  • In a small pan, sauté the sausages over medium heat until they are golden brown and crispy.

3. Assembling the pogača:

  • Once the dough has rested, divide it into two parts. On a floured surface, roll out the first part of the dough into a circle.
  • Place the rolled-out dough into a greased baking pan (or a pan lined with parchment paper).
  • Evenly distribute the sautéed sausages in the center of the dough, and if you like, add grated cheese and spices.
  • Cover the filling with the second piece of dough, which you have already rolled out.
  • Pinch the edges of the dough together, pressing them to seal.

4. Baking the pogača:

  • Brush the top of the pogača with the beaten egg for a shiny, golden crust.
  • Bake the pogača in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 25-30 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and crispy on top.

5. Serving:

  • Once the pogača is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before cutting it. Serve it warm, with a dipping sauce of your choice or a fresh salad.

Enjoy this fantastic pogača with sausages and sour cream – it’s a real treat for all food lovers!
