
Ingredients
Base:
- 38 biscuits (adjust based on pan size)
- Cherries (drain excess juice)
Cream Filling:
- 700 ml milk
- 200 g sugar
- 3 packets of vanilla sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 50 g all-purpose flour (Type 400)
- 50 g cornstarch
- 200 g margarine or butter
Chocolate Layers:
- 100 g dark chocolate, melted
- 100 g white chocolate, melted
- 3–4 tablespoons cherries for each filling
Additional:
- Whipped cream for garnishing
(Use a 25×25 cm pan for assembly.)
Preparation
1. Prepare the Cream Base:
- In a saucepan, combine the milk, sugar, vanilla sugar, and egg yolks. Whisk thoroughly.
- Gradually sift in the flour and cornstarch while stirring to avoid lumps.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens into a smooth custard-like consistency.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature. Beat in the margarine or butter until creamy.
2. Divide and Add Chocolate:
- Divide the cream filling into two equal portions.
- In the first portion, mix the melted dark chocolate until fully incorporated.
- In the second portion, mix the melted white chocolate.
- Add 3–4 tablespoons of cherries to each filling and gently fold them in.
3. Assemble the Cake:
- Line the bottom of a 25×25 cm pan with a layer of biscuits.
- Spread the dark chocolate filling evenly over the biscuits.
- Add another layer of biscuits on top.
- Spread the white chocolate filling over the second biscuit layer.
- Finish with a final layer of biscuits.
4. Chill the Cake:
- Cover the assembled cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4–6 hours, or overnight for best results. This allows the biscuits to soften and the flavors to meld together.
5. Decorate and Serve:
- Before serving, garnish the cake with whipped cream. You can also add grated chocolate, cherry halves, or decorative piping for a festive touch.
